About this event
Wilderness Survival is a lifelong skill that hopefully you will never need to use but this campout will help to provide you with some basic skills. During this campout scouts will be expected to work as a patrol to build shelters, cooking fire, and prepare all meals to survive the night in the wild. Wilderness themed activities will include water filtration, edible plants/animals, and orienteering.Cold and wet is the most difficult weather to handle. Remember layers, extra set of dry clothes, and a waterproof external layer as it is expected to rain. Wet cotton is not your friend.Location:https://www.google.com/maps/place/Big+Bull+Creek+Youth+Campground/@38.7421993,-94.9810719,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m6!3m5!1s0x87c0a7b11a06b253:0x17c92e216991cca0!8m2!3d38.7421993!4d-94.978497!16s%2Fg%2F11fp8_3bbh?entry=ttu&g_ep=EgoyMDI2MDcyOS4wIKXMDSoASAFQAw%3D%3D Friday:Saturday:Wilderness Survival Allowed Gear List allowed above 10 essentials:Sleeping BagTarp 6'x8' or largerKnife / HatchetRope: max 50'Lint/vaseline (fire starter) only to be used Friday eveningShovelClothing: no limitWater Bottle(s)Duct tapeAir Mattress and reflectix pad 10 Essentials:First Aid KitKnifeheadlamp with extra batterymap & compassWhistleMatches / lighter only to be used Friday eveningReflective blanketMirrorextra foodextra water
